- MicrOsiris Statistical Analysis and Data Management Software and Decision Tree for Statistics (Freeware)
Perform single or multiple imputations of missing values using the Sequential Regression Imputation Method.
Perform a variety of descriptive and model based analyses accounting for such complex design features as clustering, stratification and weighting.
Perform logistic, linear, Tobit, Poission, and proportional hazard regression.
Return an imputed data set for further analysis in MicrOsiris.
MicrOsiris is a comprehensive statistical and data management package for Windows (Compare SPSS, SAS). Derived from OSIRIS IV, a statistical and data management package developed and used at the University of Michigan, MicrOsiris includes special techniques for data mining (SEARCH) and analysis of nominal- and ordinal-scaled data (MNA, MCA) and an interface to IVEware, the Michigan Survey Research Center's imputation and regression software.
MicrOsiris can import up to 10,000 variables from SPSS, SAS, STATA, UNESCO IDAMS, and Excel and can read datasets from survey data available from the enormous store of survey data available in the original OSIRIS format from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan.
Output can be saved in a .CSV form separated appropriately into cells suitable for report generation in Excel.
The MicrOsiris IVEware interface command, IVEWARE, invokes the Srcware version of IVEware (installed with MicrOsiris) that can:
MicrOsiris requires 15MB on disk (compare MYSTAT(220MB), SPSS(800MB), SAS(726MB))--including manual, sample data files, IVEware, and the Decision Tree for Statistics, and loads in less than 1.5MB of Memory (additional memory allocated as needed depending on the number of variables used).
It's free and it's speed and small disk footprint makes it excellent for students and student labs as well as large-scale research projects.
MicrOsiris will also function through a Windows emulator like Parallels or VMware on a Mac and on Ubunto/Linux under Wine.
"I found that it was the only desktop product that could reference over 800 vars and handle a record > 6,000 chars. Saved my bacon!"
from a steady user, 2009
The Decision Tree for Statistics (Freeware; included with MicrOsiris or use link below)
The Decision Tree helps select statistics or statistical techniques appropriate for the purpose and conditions of a particular analysis and to select the MicrOsiris commands which produce them or find the corresponding SPSS and SAS commands.
